Realizing that his marketability stems as much from his looks as it does from his prowess on the soccer field, David Beckham is stressing over what the California sunshine is going to do to his face.

The couple - who moved to the US last month following David’s move to soccer team Los Angeles Galaxy - have been covering their bodies in an expensive French face cream, recommended to them by close friend Katie Holmes, to prevent premature ageing.

A source is quoted by Britain’s Daily Express newspaper as saying: “They sometimes do it together when they have spare time. Both of them keep talking about the intense heat in Los Angeles and how it is different from the Spanish sun they are used to from their time in Madrid. David and Victoria are both very concerned about their skin ageing.”

David, 32, is paranoid about the lines around his eyes, while 33-year-old Victoria is worried she is developing deep wrinkles around her mouth.

The source added: “David smiles in front of the mirror to examine how many lines it brings up. He wants to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. He is willing to use bucketloads of the cream if it helps.

I don’t know why Victoria bothers with expensive French creams. A little WD-40 on her hinges and a fresh injection of silicone every now and then should have her as good as new.
